The town has agreed to form a committee to study the Lighthouse Inn conversion plan and the realignment of Pine Point Road.
The inn’s owners, Peter and Nicholas Truman, are proposing to convert the property from a seasonal motel to a five-unit condominium complex.
The plans have been met with some concern from neighbors and throughout the summer Port City Architecture, which is developing the conversion plans, held several meetings were with neighbors to rework the plans.
Today neighbors seem content with the building’s design, but are still worried about relocating Pine Point Road. The road relocation was the town’s idea and is intended to provide for better traffic flow at the King Street and Pine Point Road intersection.
Pine Point residents, led by John Thurlow and Judy Shirk, have developed their own concept of what the road relocation should look like and submitted it to the Town Council. The town also has contracted with a traffic engineer to investigate various possibilities.
The committee will be comprised of three town representatives, three applicant representatives, three neighbor representatives and three abutter representatives.
The Town Council was expected to formally approve forming the committee at its meeting Wednesday night, after the Current’s deadline.
