GRAY – On Feb. 25, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into a string of motor vehicle burglaries in the town of Gray. In excess of 20 incidents of burglary to motor vehicles, theft, trespassing and criminal mischief had been reported by area residents off the Depot Road.

With only physical evidence and foot wear impressions, deputies and investigators worked to develop suspects. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of two juvenile males, one from Raymond and one from the Gray. The juveniles are 15 and 16 years old and as such their identities are not being released.

Both juveniles attend Windham High School and have been charged with more than 30 crimes to include burglary to motor vehicle (class D), theft (class D), and criminal mischief (class E). The 15-year-old was summonsed and released to parents on house arrest and the 16-year-old was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center.

The stolen property included electronics, money, apparel and personal identification and credit cards. The identification and credit cards had been used by the juveniles at businesses throughout Cumberland County. Only a portion of the stolen property was recovered.
