Bedtime stories
On Monday, Jan. 12, kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas and join the elementary education majors for reading, learning, and fun at Saint Joseph’s College, located on Whites Bridge Road. Children from area schools, grades K-3, are invited to attend and enjoy the reading of a good book, participate in related activities and munch on snacks. This is a free event sponsored through the Saint Joseph’s chapter of Student Educators Association of Maine.
“Everyone participating is excited to help the children develop their reading skills outside of the classroom and have some fun,” said Danielle Johnson of Standish, elementary education major and Student Educators Association of Maine member.
The educational event, being held in the first-floor lounge at the Harold Alfond Center, will start at 6 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. The theme for January is Winter Wonders. Don’t forget to bring a blanket or your child’s favorite teddy bear. Registration is not necessary. For more information call 893-7723.

The party begins at 8 p.m. and the cover is $5 or a non-perishable food item.
Toddler movies
Toddler Movie Night is Friday, Dec. 12 at the Standish Municipal Center and is free and open to the residents of Standish. This is for toddlers only, so parents don’t have worry about them making noise, fidgeting, getting up, running around or any of the other concerns parents usually have when taking a toddler to a movie theater. This month’s movie is the holiday classic A Christmas Story, and begins at 6:30 p.m. The concession stand will be open and there are free popcorn refills for all kids. Parents are required to stay and encouraged to bring a blanket and pillows to sit on. Don’t be afraid to come in pajamas. For more information contact Brett Levin at 642-6514.
