SCARBOROUGH – Staying home over this February school vacation week? The Scarborough Public Library will provide the “play” if you decide to stay. The following events will take place at the library between Feb. 18 and 22:

Three story time programs are planned for Tuesday, Feb. 18. Baby Lapsit for ages birth to 18 months will be offered at 9:30 a.m. by Marilyn, followed by Toddler Time for ages 18 months and up at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., the Scarborough Public Library Reader’s Theater Troup, a group of talented student thespians, will offer a performance of excerpts from favorite “Read Aloud” books. This program is appropriate for children grades 2 through 5.

On Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m., children and their families can listen, laugh, and join in with Mrs. C and Marilyn as they offer a rollicking performance from lively renditions of their favorite picture books.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, Lauren will present Family Story Time for ages 3 to 7. She’ll be joined by Brenda and her guitar for a sing-a-long.

Friday, Feb. 21, will be Make Time Day @ the Library. Throughout the day, the Youth Services Room will have Legos, a variety of board games, and a “Maker Space” where the whole family can test their creative juices to make something by hand. It’s a great day to leave the gizmos and gadgets behind.

And on Saturday, Feb. 22, Read to Me story time with Lauren will be offered at 10:30 a.m. This program is great for families who work during the week and is appropriate for ages 3 and up.

All Staycation events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Youth Services Room at 883-4723, option 3. You can also visit the library’s website at www.scarboroughlibrary.org.
