On Wednesday, after the Current’s print deadline, the Scarborough Town Council will get its first look at the combined new fiscal year budget, which includes both school and municipal spending.
According to the council agenda, the proposed municipal budget for 2015-2016 is $30,416,330 and the school budget for the new fiscal year, which starts July 1, is $46,988,263. In addition, the combined capital projects budget is nearly $5 million.
No budget details were available before deadline, but these numbers represent the proposed budgets of Town Manager Tom Hall and Superintendent of Schools George Entwistle.
The council and school board will deliberate on the budget proposals, and changes could be made prior to the public hearing and final vote set for May 6.
In addition, Scarborough residents will get the chance to vote on school spending in a town-wide referendum, which will be held later this spring.
