Public Safety Open House
The annual Standish Public Safety Open House will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Standish Municipal Building located at 175 Northeast Road. Since its inception in the fall of 2000, the Public Safety Committee works alongside the Standish Fire/EMS Department in putting together a fun-filled day of activities for the family that promote and heighten awareness and educate the public so that we can make better informed decisions when it comes to the safety of our loved ones.
There will also be an American Red Cross blood drive taking place at the same location from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Be sure to bring your ID and try to drink plenty of fluids that day if you intend to give blood.

Ride for Project Grad
This Sunday, Sept. 28, there will be a motorcycle ride to benefit Bonny Eagle Project Graduation for the class of 2015. What a beautiful way to leaf peep! The ride will start at Big Moose Harley-Davidson located at 375 Riverside Street in Portland. Registration will be open from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and there will be coffee, doughnuts and muffins available before the ride, with the ride departing promptly at 10 a.m. from Big Moose. The ride will end at Bonny Eagle High School where there will be a barbecue, a 50/50 and other raffles.

Bodyslams for Bonny Eagle
On Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. join with NAWA Pro-Wrestling and Tony Atlas in the Bonny Eagle High School gymnasium for a night of excitement. Tickets are $10 each and all proceeds will go to benefit the BEHS Drama Club and help to support student attendance at conferences.
Kiwanis events
The Kiwanis Club of Standish will be hosting its Officers Installation Dinner at the Kiwanis Clubhouse at 40 Kiwanis Beach Road on Wednesday, Oct. 8. A social time at 6 p.m. will be followed by dinner and installation at 6:30 p.m. $40 per person. Reserve a spot by calling 642-2088.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, a Halloween Fundraiser Bus Trip will depart the Clubhouse at 8:30 a.m, returning from Salem, Mass., at 5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Kiwanis Club of Standish. Make your reservations today as seating is limited. For more information check out [email protected] or call 642-2088.
The annual scrapbooking fundraiser for Bonny Eagle High School’s Project Graduation was held last Saturday in the Bonny Eagle High School gymnasium. It was the first year chairing the event for Brenda Bryan and Jennifer Connors. The event was a great success and raised more than $3,000 toward the class of 2015’s Project Graduation.
