Through Oct. 19: Based at 420 Cottage Road in South Portland, the troupe at Portland Players is performing Les Miserables. Saturday, Sept. 13: From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Peoples United Methodist Church, 310 Broadway, South Portland, will hold a Heritage Day Fair. Featured will be games and activities from bygone times. Refreshments will be available.

Sept. 13-14: The Cape Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene will be kicking off its annual Homecoming Weekend with a picnic on Saturday at noon at the Two Lights State Park Picnic Pavilion. All are welcome to join for food, fun, and fellowship. The celebration continues at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday during worship service at the church, 499 Ocean House Road.

Sunday, Sept. 14: Kitchen & Cork in the Cabela’s Plaza in Scarborough, is holding its third annual Charity Pie/Cupcake Contest to benefit The March of Dimes Foundation. Sept. 16-Oct. 9: On Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 16-Oct. 9, Women, Work, and Community, located at 175 Main St. in South Portland is holding a class from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to examine participants’ work values and interests, identify your transferable skills, and explore your earning potential in the new economy. Participants will learn about local projected growth industries and identify the skills, education, and training needed to build your career. Registration is required.
