South Portland City Councilor Linda Cohen was recently elected as vice president of the Maine Municipal Association’s executive committee, according to a press release from the agency.
She’s served on the council since 2012 and was the city’s mayor in 2014-2015. She also has experience in the banking and real estate industries and served as municipal clerk for the cities of both Portland and South Portland.
Cohen is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and holds a degree in business administration. She also holds a degree in law enforcement from Southern Maine Community College. In her role as vice president of the Maine Municipal Association board, Cohen will lead the agency’s 70-member Legislative Policy Committee, which steers the organization on legislative issues and priorities.
