I am a former trustee of Falmouth Memorial Library, and Bob was Falmouth’s open space ombudsman for 10 years. It is important for all Falmouth citizens to understand the status of the proposed expansion of the Library. The plan that was approved in 2014 was both forward looking as well as innovative in terms of low costs for personnel and energy. The request by the library for a referendum to support additional funding does not come because of new ideas for the project: the need for a teen area, a more private children’s section, an increased adult collection, and significant modernization through technology remain the same. Material and labor costs have escalated, resulting in an increased estimate for the project. We need your support to build this expansion for the library we all love. Vote yes to support the referendum as a wise investment in our library and town.
