BIDDEFORD — James M. Mouzas, 88, of Biddeford died on Dec. 6, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough.

He was born on March 6, 1929 to Milton and Dorothy (Denoncourt) Mouzas in Biddeford. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Biddeford High School.

On Feb. 7, 1953, he married Pauline Lamb in Biddeford.

Jim owned and operated the Puritan Tea Room in Biddeford for 40 years until it closed in 1982. He then went on to work at WP Pepperell in shipping for 11 years until he retired in 1994. He was a lifetime member of the Elks in Saco, where he helped in many adventures and especially enjoyed Bingo nights. He was named Elk of the Year for two different years. He was also a lifetime member of the St. Louis Alumni, where he enjoyed cribbage nights. In his retirement, he enjoyed his time spent at the beach with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed times spent with all his family members.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Athena Mouzas, and a brother, Michael Mouzas.

Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pauline Mouzas of Biddeford; three sons Charles Mouzas of Biddeford, Peter Mouzas of Biddeford and Milton Mouzas of Biddeford; four daughters Kathleen Martin and her husband Paul of Biddeford, Diana Mouzas of Biddeford, Dorothy Mouzas of Biddeford and Lynda Mouzas of Biddeford; a brother Thomas Mouzas and his wife Noella of Biddeford; two sisters Helen Stoukides of Beverly Hills, Florida and Dorothy Keenan of Biddeford; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews

Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Demetrios Cemetery in Biddeford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074.
