All this, all this, and more with most items made locally by skilled hands, though there are come vendors as well as crafters, are on tap in the next several weeks.
‘Tis the season, whether you call it a Christmas Fair, a Gingerbread Fair, a Holiday Fair or a Confetti Fair.
There were a few this past weekend and a slew of them coming up — where you’re likely to find that special something for a special someone.
At Waterboro Grange on Saturday, folks were attending the Waterborough Historical Society’s annual fair. Among those perusing the tables was Sue Ellen Doggett, admiring a bracelet made by Pat Slaght. She’s been making jewelry for about 20 years, she said, and knitting colorful hats, which were also for sale, for five.
Katiulca Ramirez was offering an array of items at her table at Sanford Christian Academy’s annual Christmas Fair on High Street, including colorful paracord bracelets and yummy homemade, hand dipped, caramel apples.
“Its been good,” she said of sales that day.
Amy Tetreault of Lebanon was with her sister Jennifer Vincent of Sanford, selling an array of items —headbands, baked goods and pickled peppers from a family recipe — to help raise funds for a good cause — hosting Ukrainian orphans in America. Tetreault and her family hosted two Ukrainian girls aged 12 and 13 in the summer, and plan to have them return for several weeks this winter. They’re due to arrive Dec. 16.
“Its about gibing them hope and a chance to be adopted, said Tetreault.
Carrie Jensen of Buxton, a pre-K teacher in Saco, was selling Usburne children’s books — with titles like “Tell me a Story,” and “Paint me a Picture.”
“I love it,” she said.
