BIDDEFORD — Gilbert G. Garriepy, 92, of Vermont and formerly of Biddeford, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation in Barre, Vermont.

He was born in Biddeford on Sept. 2, 1923, a son of Joseph and Rose (Perreault) Garriepy.

He was educated at St. Andre’s School and entered into the military, serving his country in the United States Air Force. He then studied at American Television Institute of Engineering in Chicago, Illinois.

He was employed by Cummings Business Machines in Chicago for two years. He went to Zenith Corporation in Chicago for 20 years, retiring in 1971. In 1971, he moved to Vermont with his family. During retirement he worked for the United States Post Office.

Mr. Garriepy was a parishioner of the former St. Mary’s Church.

He is preceded in death by: his wife, Marion “Gerry” (Cote) Garriepy on Aug. 20, 2002; by three brothers, Raineld, Paul, and Fremond; and by two sisters, Sister Dolores Garriepy and Claire Mendor.

He is survived by: one son, Bruce Garriepy of Huntley, Illnois; three daughters, Joyce Jones and her husband Robert of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Lynn Wistar and her husband George White of Bellevue, Washington, and Karen Mills and her husband Scott of Bethel, Vermont; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
