John Baldacci tasted some toothpaste (wintermint), shook hands with workers and praised the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts underway at Tom’s of Maine during a tour of the south Sanford production plant Friday. … The company has committed $200,000 worth of products to help hurricane victims.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Negotiations were concluded by representatives of Local 406, Textile Workers Union of America … and Saco-Lowell New England Division of Maremont Corp. at an all day meeting ending last night at 10:30 in an effort to reach a new agreement. …(I)t was believed that a substantial raise in wages and fringes was arrived at by negotiators.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The Biddeford High football squad was out for practice this afternoon, for the first time this season, in preparation for their game with Deering high at Bayside park, Portland. … There is plenty of good material at the school this year to make up a fast team and although not as heavy as last year’s aggregation, they will make up in another way.”
