FALMOUTH 3, BIDDEFORD 0
BIDDEFORD — State championship runner-up Falmouth needed just three sets to dispatch Biddeford Tuesday night on the same court that it lost last year’s Class A volleyball state title game.
The Yachtsmen (2-0) won by set scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25- 23.
The Tigers (0-1), who lost to Falmouth in last year’s playoffs, were led by Jocelyn Moody, who collected team-highs in digs (14), kills (eight) and aces (four). Grace Boisvert and Kendra Cote had two aces apiece, with Boisvert adding five digs and Cote contributing seven kills and two blocks.
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 3, WELLS 2
YARMOUTH — The visiting Warriors won the first two sets on Tuesday evening, but North Yarmouth Academy rallied with three straight wins to take the match.
Isabelle Smith led Wells (1-1) with 12 digs and two kills and Kate Scott added eight assists.
Michelle Desjardins chipped in with eight digs, four aces and one assist, while Halee Ramsdell finished with five kills, two aces and one block and Julia Michie added six digs.
Wells also got five kills and one block from Olivia Muse and Alyssa Loukola had five digs and one block.
Field Hockey
BIDDEFORD 2, WINDHAM 1
BIDDEFORD — Sarrah Marcotte scored off a centering pass from Charlotte White just one minute into the second half to give Biddeford the lead and the Tigers held on from there Tuesday afternoon at Doran Field.
Biddeford took a 1-0 lead just under three minutes into the game when Peyton McKeown took a pass from Taylor Turgeon and scored.
Windham’s Julia Libby tied the game with seven minutes left in the first half.
Biddeford (1-1) got 12 saves from Taylor Wildes.
Boys Soccer
THORNTON ACADEMY 1, WESTBROOK 1
SACO — Simon Trcka gave host Thornton Academy a 1-0 lead early in the second half but Westbrook responded six minutes later as the teams played to a 1-1 draw in an SMAA boys soccer game at Hill Stadium Tuesday.
Trcka put the Trojans (1-0-1) on top 5:35 after halftime, only for Hadi Ahmed to answer for the Blue Blazes (1-0-1).
Andrew Coleman made three saves in net for TA, while D.J. Hedrickson stopped six shots for Westbrook.
Golf
KENNEBUNK 10.5, MASSABESIC 2.5
KENNEBUNK — Jonah Gauthier, Owen Manahan and Eli Clark all shot sub- 50 scores to help lead host Kennebunk (2-0) to a victory over Massabesic (1-2) in an SMAA golf match at Webhannet Golf Club Tuesday.
Gauthier carded a match-low 45 but was only able to earn 1.5 points, as Massabesic’s Matt Prokey (48) played him even in match play.
Manahan and Clark shot rounds of 47 and 49, respectively.
Ethan Nugent shot a team-low score of 47 for the Mustangs to earn two points.
The Rams won the team medal, 244-257.
BIDDEFORD 13, NOBLE 0
ARUNDEL — The host Tigers had a clean sweep of rounds under 50 as Biddeford rolled to a victory over Noble in an SMAA golf match at Dutch Elm Golf Club Tuesday.
Jason Vadnais shot a match-low 40 for the Tigers (3-0). That was followed by a 47 from Ricky Ruck, 48s from Kerry Crepeau and Colby Plante, and 49s from Logan Magnant and Mike Reissfelder.
Biddeford took the team medal by a 232-308 score.
THORNTON ACADEMY 11, WINDHAM 2
SACO — Greg Kalagias carded a teamlow 35 to help lead the Trojans to a victory over Windham in an SMAA golf match at Biddeford-Saco Country Club Tuesday.
Kalagias earned two points with his win over Windham’s (1-2) Connor Daigle, and he shared low medalist honors with the Eagles’ Alex Spiller. Spiller beat Hashilla Rivai to secure Windham’s lone points.
Jacob LaPlume (37), Jordan LaPlume (38), Rivai (39) and Noah Jacques (39) all joined Kalagias with sub-40 scores for the Trojans (3-0). Logan Picard carded a 40 for TA, which won the team medal by a 188-206 score.
LAKE REGION 7, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0
OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Tyler Walker led visiting Lake Region with a match-low 43 as the Lakers downed Old Orchard Beach in a WMC golf match at Dunegrass Golf Club Tuesday.
Nate Doody led the Seagulls (0-3) with a 54 and Max Warden shot a 55.
MARSHWOOD 12, SANFORD 1
BERWICK — Tucker Etro was the low medalist, with a 43, as Marshwood topped Sanford in an SMAA golf match at The Links at Outlook Tuesday.
Chad Gregor led the Spartans with a round of 48.
The Hawks took the team medal by a score of 242-279.
