CONCORD, N.H. — David Hobson is now being held in the maximum-security unit of the New Hampshire State Prison.
Hobson, 34, was transferred from the Carroll County House of Corrections in Ossipee on Wednesday afternoon following his arraignment on a felony charge of escape. Hobson escaped the county jail last Thursday, prompting a five-day manhunt in southern Maine.

Jason Johnson, superintendent of the county jail, said Hobson was moved out of his facility due to “safety and security reasons.”
Hobson is in the state prison’s “Special Housing Unit,” where inmates may be under lockdown for up to 23 hours a day, according to Jeff Lyons, a spokesman for the state’s Department of Corrections.
Lyons said Hobson would likely remain in the maximum-security unit until Carroll County asks for him to be returned.
Hobson was awaiting trial on burglary charges when he escaped the county jail by climbing onto the roof and going over a fence topped with razor wire.
