Saturday was a good day to be a Kennebunk soccer player as the Kennebunk boys rolled to a 6-0 win over Wells and the KHS girls picked up a 5-0 win over the Warriors.

In the boys’ contest, the Rams used goals from Spencer Thibodeau, Tristan Wirth and Ian Zogg to take a 3-0 lead into the half.

The Rams would then get goals from Charlie Miller, Thomas Zub and Pat Gassman in the second half as they cruised to a season-opening win.

The Kennebunk and Wells girls squads would battle to a scoreless tie at the halftime break, but it would be all Rams in the second half.

Scoring for the Rams after the break were Elizabeth Cain, Kelli Molloy, Leah Dumas, Lydia Corcoran and Sarah MacKinnon.

Hallie Schwartzman and Sarah Phill added assists for the Rams, who got a shutout from goalie Kyra Schwartzman.

Field Hockey

Thornton 4, Gorham 0

The Golden Trojans would score two goals in each half as they cruised to a win over Gorham.

Emma Dutremble opened the scoring off an assist from Bella Robinson and Grace Pickering would make it 2-0 on an unassisted goal.

In the second half, Taylor Ouellette took a pass from Dutremble to make it 3-0 and Grace Decker used a Libby Pomerleau assist to close out the scoring.

Thornton Academy (2-0) visits Bonny Eagle today.

Sc arb orough 3, Massabesic 2 (OT )

The Mustangs rallied from a 2-0 second half hole to send the game to overtime, but homestanding Scarborough got a game-winner from Rachel Paradis in the second overtime period.

Scarborough would take a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Lily Nygren and Kristen Levesque.

Emma Rutledge and Logan Champlin each scored goals to help the Mustangs send the game to overtime.

Massabesic got eight saves from goalie Kelley Wescott.
