OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Loranger Memorial School was one of three local schools which received an art education grant from the Biddeford-Saco Elks Lodge #1597.

Representatives from the local Elks lodge came to the school Thursday morning to present art teacher Jesse Hurteau with a $500 check.

Hurteau said the school hadn’t yet designated how the money will be spent, but said one of the goals of the school was to increase the use of technology in the classroom.

Elks member Ward Grossman said art is an important part of education that enriches students lives.

Gov. John Fairfield School in Saco and Biddeford Primary School also received art education grants, according to Elks officials.
