KENNEBUNK — In 2008, a year after Nicole Oliver was killed by her estranged husband at a home they once shared in Wells, her friends organized a run to honor her, and to benefit Caring Unlimited, a resource center for domestic violence victims in York County.
Nicole’s Run, now in its eigth year, steps off Saturday, July 18 from Lord’s Point, near Mother’s Beach in Kennebunk.
Oliver’s friends and family organized the first Nicole’s Run the year after her death to support Caring Unlimited and their mission ”“ to ensure that potentially life-saving programs would always be available for victims of domestic violence in York County. Nicole’s run ”“ and the Atlantic Plunge which takes place Jan. 1 ”“ are premiere fundraisers for Caring Unlimited. Folks who register online in advance may so do for $20; its $25 on the day.
The 3.1 mile run or walk begins at 9 a.m., with registration opening at 6:45 a.m. The 1-kilometer Kid’s Fun Run will take off at 8:30 a.m., with advance registration fees of $10; $15 on race day. Online registration is available at www.nicolesrun.org.
