OGUNQUIT — The State Fire Marshal’s Office says that one person was killed in a house fire in Ogunquit early this morning, as reported by state police.

The fire was in an apartment above a garage on Besbill Street, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine State Police, said in an email this morning. Firefighters were called to the scene at about 2 a.m., he said, where they located the body of the man who had died.

“Fire investigators are now attempting to pinpoint the cause of the fire and the man’s identity will likely be released later in the day,” said McCausland.
