BIDDEFORD — Lillian Marie Pothier Boilard, 93, of Biddeford, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2015 in her home at The Shaw House in Biddeford, just a few days from celebrating her 94th birthday.

Lillian was born in Saco at her family farm to Albert and Louise Nillus Pothier on April 4, 1921.

Lillian was the oldest of her three siblings, Charles Pothier, Lorraine Pothier Paquet and Simone Pothier Lane.

At a very young age, Lillian and her siblings lost their mother to a tragic accident in Saco. Her father took a position as janitor at Stella Maris Orphanage (now on the campus of the University of New England) in Biddeford. For the next six years, she and her family lived at Stella Maris. Lillian and her siblings enjoyed weekends at her grandparent’s farm in North Saco.

Lillian worked for a short time at the mills in Biddeford. Lillian was eager for new challenges. She joined the Woman’s Army Auxiliary Corps. She shared her stories on walking the Brooklyn Bridge to deliver mail intended to be sent overseas to soldiers serving abroad. She was very proud of her service to our country.

In her marriage to Jerry Boilard, they enjoyed hunting, fishing and summers at their camp on Watchic Lake in Standish. She spent many summers sharing her camp with her family.

She was known for making a U-turn in her garage with her jeep. Time spent fishing, blueberry picking, playing cards and teaching her nieces and nephews to dance at her camp gave her moments of memorable joy.

Years after Jerry’s death, she met her long-time partner, Harry Bryant of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They spent decades traveling around the country, enjoying current music, dancing, talking politics and loved making new friends while wintering in St. Petersburg, Florida.

After Harry’s passing she lived briefly in Biddeford at her home on Alfred Road and has spent the last seven years living amongst her friends at The Shaw House in Biddeford.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Albert (1965) and Louise Nillus (1930) Pothier; her brother, Charles “Charlie” Pothier (2011); her sister, Simone Lane (2002); her husband, Jerry Boilard (1974); and her long-time partner in life, Harry Bryant.

She is survived by: her sister, Lorraine Pothier Paquet; and many nieces and nephews.
