LYMAN — Herbert Roy Dale, 71, of Lyman died on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

He was born Oct. 23, 1943 to Phillip and Flora (Johnstone) Dale in Bentonville, Arkansas.

He joined the Army in 1963. While he was stationed at Ft. Myer he met Constance LeBlond. On Aug. 10, 1966 they were married in Arlington, Virginia. After 16 years of faithful service he left the Army in 1978.

Herbert was an avid reader and enjoyed coin collecting. He loved spoiling his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by: his brother, Jesse Trail and his sister Etta Palmore.

Herbert is survived by:his loving wife of 48 years, Connie Dale of Lyman; two sons, Joseph H. Dale and his wife Denise of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and John P. Dale of Lyman; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Johnathan, Brenton, Theodore, Katasha, Arianna, Kam, and Elizabeth; two brothers-in-law, Theodore A. LeBlond and his wife Gini of Chandler, Arizona, and Richard P. Lambert and his wife Connie of Biddeford; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Clark of Biddeford, and Jeannine Lehoux and her husband Mark of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Lyman. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Herbert’s name be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 39 Mechanic St., Suite 100, Westbrook, ME 04092.
