OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Lucien Lehouillier, 85, formerly of Old Orchard Beach, died peacefully at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 22, 2015.

He was born May 17, 1929 in St. Marguerite, Quebec, Canada, a son of Alfred and Albina (Provost) Lehouillier, and was educated there.

He began playing hockey while in school and continued into his adulthood, playing at the semi-professional level. In Canada, he worked on the family farm.

On Aug. 20, 1952, he married Rita Lagrange in St. Anges, Quebec. They moved to Maine in 1957, where they raised nine children.

Lucien took great pride in his family and had an active role in each of his children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives. He will be remembered for his hard work, humor and boundless love for his family.

He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and was also known for his love of animals.

He was employed with Fiber Materials, Inc. for more than 22 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Parish of the Good Shepherd.

He is preceded in death by: Rita, his wife of 61 years, in 2013; a son, Francois “Frenchie” A. Lehouillier in 1995; a granddaughter, Ashley E. Ouellette in 1999; his son-in-law, Robert Ouellette in 2001; a sister, Helene Carrier; and brothers, Jean-Marc, Joseph, and Armand Lehouillier.

Lucien is survived by: four daughters, Lisa Ouellette, Lorraine Orlando, Doris Chamberlain and her husband Craig, all of Saco, and Denise Wilson and her husband Peter of Westbrook; four sons, Gerard Lehouillier of Saco, Rene Lehouillier of Ft. Lauderdale, Forida, Roger Lehouillier and his wife Christina of Spring Hill, Florida, and Denis Lehouillier of Scarborough; a daughter-in-law, Lisette Lehouillier of Arundel; three brothers, George, Louis-Arthur, and Maurice Lehouillier, all of Quebec, Canada; three sisters: Georgianna Lehouillier, Anne-Marie Gregoire, both of Quebec, Canada, and Lucille Leclerc of Massachusetts; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 2”“4 p.m. and 6 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 at Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
