From Staff Reports
The Maine Department of Transportation is looking to Talk Transportation and is seeking public input regarding transportation issues. To that end, the department will hold a series of public meetings throughout the state this month as well as March and April.
Input from the public and other stakeholders will be considered by the department as it formulates its Long-Range Transportation Needs Assessment. The assessment documents anticipated transportation system needs for the future 20 years, with particular emphasis on the next 10 years.
The meetings will also provide a forum for the department to discuss its activities and programs.
The meetings are being held by MDOT’s Outreach Office. The Outreach Office was recently created as a new approach to better serve our customers throughout the state.
Two meetings at each of more than 20 locations statewide are being held. The meetings will include a brief presentation about MaineDOT and the services it provides, interactive audience participation survey questions, and an open discussion and question and answer period.
For more information about where the meetings will be held, visit the Public Meetings Input website at: http://www.maine.gov/mdot/talktrans/.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
