CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Three Republican lawmakers want to allow anyone who can legally purchase a gun to carry the weapon concealed without a permit in New Hampshire.
A Senate committee will take testimony on the so-called “Constitutional carry” bill at 1 p.m. Thursday. Senate Majority Leader Jeb Bradley of Wolfeboro, Sen. David Boutin of Hooksett and Rep. JR Hoell of Dunbarton sponsored the bill.
New Hampshire law requires a permit from local law enforcement to carry a concealed weapon. This new bill would allow anyone who is legally qualified to buy a gun to carry it, open or concealed, without a permit. People needing a permit to carry a gun across state lines could still receive one from local officials.
Lawmakers are allowed to carry concealed guns on the House floor.
