GORHAM ”“ Bertha Butman Heacock, 88, passed away on Jan. 20, 2015 at the Gorham House.
She was born on July 14, 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Frank and Harriet McLucas Butman.
Bertha attended Nasson College for one year, then transferred and graduated from Westchester State College in Pennsylvania with a degree in teaching. Bertha taught for many years in Pennsylvania and Delaware. She was known for her love of teaching.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Leonard; and a sister, Lorenza Piper.
She is survived by: her three sons, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private spring burial will take place at Pine Grove South Cemetery.
Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco is in charge of the arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff of Gorham House for their loving care for Bertha while she was a resident there.
