AUBURN, Maine (AP) — An armed standoff in Auburn has ended peacefully with one man facing charges.
Police say they responded to a 911 call from an 83-year-old man at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday.
Officers found that the man was armed and threatening suicide with his wife in the house.
The man was convinced to come out of the house peacefully at about 3 p.m.
Francis Bruno was charged with creating a police standoff. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Because a gun was involved, several nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. Bruno’s wife was unharmed.
