OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach boys basketball team welcomed Wells to town on Saturday afternoon and the Seagulls came away with a hard-fought 48-43 win over the Warriors.

The Seagulls (4-4) used an intense full-court press to force several Wells (1-8) turnovers and take a 15-8 lead after the first quarter.

OOB looked to keep up the pressure in the second, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Wells’ Tyler Dewey and Keegan Reidy ”“ and a foul shot off an OOB technical foul ”“ tied the game at 15 early in the period.

The two squads battled back-and-forth the rest of the second period and the game was tied at 25-25 heading into halftime.

Part of the problem for OOB in the second quarter was the absence of sophomore standout Evan Christensen, who was sent to the bench after receiving the technical foul. Fortunately for the Seagulls, Christensen was back on the court in the second half and the Seagulls found their rhythm again.
