GORHAM — Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach dug itself into a hole and nearly came out of it, but MOB fell just short in a 4-3 loss to Edward Little in a Class A boys hockey game at USM Ice Arena on Saturday.
Zack Guimond put the Red Eddies (5-4) on the board first, as he scored off an assist from Max Giard less than five minutes into the game.
MOB (2-8) knotted the game at 1-1 midway through the second on a goal from Kyle Whitman, but the Eddies scored twice in an eight-second span four minutes later.
Edward Little upped its lead to 4-1 five minutes into the third on a goal by Alex Landry, but MOB stormed back to within one on goals by Tanner McClure and Whitman in the final five minutes.
Matt Bridges stopped 19 of 23 shots for MOB, while EL goalie Devin Dumont turned away 11 of 14 shots.
