Lebanon Fire Department is holding its first ever Christmas tree removal program and say folks should follow these simple steps and watch their tree disappear.
Simply remove all decorations, take the tree outside and place it near the road on your property. Then, call firefighter Dan Meehan at 603-591-5877 between Dec. 28 and Jan. 3, and leave your name, address, and phone number.
A volunteer will call you back and make arrangements to remove the tree. A $5 donation is suggested for each tree removal and benefits the fire department.
Firefighters will take the used trees to a safe location and burn them in a controlled environment, using the opportunity to train forestry equipment.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
