BIDDEFORD — In November, an elderly woman was the victim of a purse snatching in downtown Biddeford.
On Wednesday, a Biddeford man, who police believe committed the crime, was taken into custody.
The Biddeford Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit obtained a warrant Tuesday for Micheal Dani, 30, of Biddeford, according to Biddeford Police Dep. Chief JoAnne Fisk.
Dani has been charged with Class A robbery for allegedly snatching the purse from an 86-year-old woman outside a small variety store on Alfred Street at approximately 8 p.m. on Nov. 21.
Although the woman resisted, she was not injured.
The items stolen included $200 cash, credit cards and a cellphone.
Dani is currently on probation for felony domestic violence assault. He is being held on probation revocation and robbery.
Bail for the robbery charge was set at $5,000 cash, and Dani is expected to appear in court on Friday.
