POLAND — The Kennebunk boys basketball squad bounced back from Saturday night’s season-opening loss to pick up a 66-57 win over homestanding Poland on Wednesday evening.
Poland would jump out to a 26-24 halftime lead, but the Rams hit six 3-pointers as they outscored the Knights 24-12 in the quarter to take the lead for good.
Zach MacKinnon hit four shots from long distance on his way to a 23-point performance for Kennebunk.
The Rams also got 14 points from Travon Bradford and Justin Wiggins hit two 3-pointers in that key third-quarter stretch and finished with eight points in the win.
Alan Young led Poland with 25 points.
Kennebunk will host Greely on Friday night.
SOUTH PORTLAND 63, SANFORD 54
SOUTH PORTLAND — Sanford made the trip to South Portland on Wednesday and dropped its second straight game to open the season.
Tye Laviolette led Sanford with 12 points. Brad Bouchard added 11 points and Harris Layn had 10 points in the loss.
South Portland was led by Jack Fiorini with 22 points and Matt Pelletier finished with 18.
Sanford will host Bonny Eagle on Friday night.
