WESTBROOK — Libby Pomerleau scored a hat trick as Thornton Academy (8-3) topped Westbrook (2-8-1) 3-0 in an SMAA field hockey game on Monday.
With the three goals, Pomerleau became T.A.’s all-time leading scorer with 35 career goals, passing the mark set by 2014 graduate Morgan Dube. Pomerleau, a junior, also now holds the school record for most goals scored in a season with 17.
Ashley Houp assisted on the third goal for the Golden Trojans, who got two saves from goalie Isabella Capozzi for the shutout.
Sanford 9, McAuley 0
PORTLAND — Liz Helmreich scored a career-high five goals as Sanford cruised past McAuley in an SMAA field hockey game on Monday.
An opener from Allison L’Heureux and two goals from Helmreich gave the Spartans (8-3) a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Two goals from Helmreich, and two goals by Morgan Champagne assisted by Marissa Nance, made it 7-0 12 minutes into the second half before goals by Shannon Lebel and Helmreich made it a 9-0 final.
Samantha Wikowski made 16 saves for the Lions (0-11).
Gorham 3, Massabesic 1
GORHAM — Gorham scored second-half goals to rally past Massabesic in an SMAA field hockey game on Monday.
Mackenzie Croteau had opened the scoring for the Mustangs with an assist from Abby Staples just 1:17 into the first half.
The Rams tied it with a Mary Adams goal early in the second half, then took a 2-1 lead 13 minutes later thanks to a Kayli Leavitt goal assisted by Charlotte Smith. Reagan Emerson then scored an insurance goal with 4:07 remaining.
Kelley Wescott made 13 saves for Massabesic (3-5-3), with Megan Baker stopping eight shots for Gorham (10-1).
