SANFORD — Anybody can build a deck. But there might be a few more things to learn before a home handyman can successfully build a deck, meeting building codes and having a permanent addition to the house.
Goodall Memorial Library in Sanfoprd will host a presentation on the subject at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11 for a night of information on how to build a deck.
Learn from this lecture the rules of building a deck with reinforced railings and post, stairways and privacy fencing. Discover the beauty and grain of wood. the strengths and weaknesses of plastic or composition products, how to decide the size deck to build and how to match the style of your house. As well, learn what to do to prevent damage and how to preserve the beauty of your new deck.
Presenter for the evening is be Larry Floyd of Sanford, who has 30 years of experience building decks.
