KENNEBUNK — The Kennebunk baseball team earned its first win of the season Thursday morning, topping visiting Fryeburg Academy 3-2 on a walk off hit by Matt Smith. 

The Rams will move on to face neighboring Wells this Saturday at 11 a.m.

Softball

Fryeburg Academy 6, Kennebunk 4

Heading into the ninth inning tied 4-4, the visiting Fryeburg Academy softball team managed to add two runs and secure the opening day win on the road.

Noble 2, South Portland 1

The hosting Noble softball team topped South Portland 2-1 in nine innings in an opening day pitchers’ duel.

Both teams scored a run in he first inning to make the score 1-1, and not another run was scored until the ninth when Noble’s Kelsey Lessard hit the game-winning run across the plate.

Freshman Raegan Kelly took the circle for the Knights, pitching nine innings and collecting 14 strikeouts and surrendering no walks. Morgan Dorr had a solid day at the plate for Noble, going 2-for-2, while Kelly also added two hits, along with Kassidy Lessard who added two hits.
