SACO — Donald Hugh “Mac” MacMaster passed away at home on Friday, July 25, 2014, from complications of dementia, at the age of 76.
Mac was employed in a variety of occupations from coal mining in Nova Scotia to tending bar in Boston, which was his favorite.
He was active in the Knights of Columbus and coached many youth athletic teams.
He leaves: his wife, Janice; his son, Cameron and his wife Serena; and his loyal dog, Magilla.
He was a grateful and gentle man and would want to thank his wife’s coworkers at Sedgewood Commons, the staff at the Strike Zone, the Sol Amor/Life Choice Hospice, and Roger Melancon for all their support and friendship.
A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. To sign the guestbook or leave condolences, go to www.cotefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you to perform a random act of kindness in his memory.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
