SCARBOROUGH — The Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter has announced the following upcoming Early Stage Social Engagement Programs:
The Outdoors Club’s Guided Summer Birding Walk at Thorncrag: A personal guide with the Stanton Bird Club will lead participants on a tour of Thorncrag, one of the best bird sanctuaries in central Maine on Tuesday, July 29.
The Outdoors Club will then take a guided tour of Robinson Woods. A volunteer with the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust will take participants on a July 31 tour of this property featuring 300-year-old trees, interpretive signs highlighting local wildlife, and flowing brooks of fresh water.
The Maine Chapter’s Early Stage Social Engagement Program is open to those living with early stage Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia and their care partners. The program encourages these individuals to “get out, get active and get connected” by engaging in quality, compelling and fun activities. The focus of the program is to make the most of the time available to those living with dementia.
Advance registration is required for all programs.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
