NASHUA, N.H. — For the second time in three days, a Nashua starting pitcher pitched seven shutout innings as the Silver Knights got the better of the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide.
Mike Geannelis allowed just three hits seven innings Sunday as Nashua downed OOB 2-0 in a FCBL baseball game at Holman Stadium. The sophomore from UMass struck out just two but also walked only one run to pick up the win.
Nashua (21-18) took the lead in the second inning as Carson Helms homered off Old Orchard Beach (13-26) starter Tim Holmes. Nashua then added to the lead in the eighth against OOB reliever Ben Greenberg as Matt Sanchez led off with a single, got to second on a wild pitch, to third on a Michael Pierson flyout to right and then scored on a Jimmy Ricoy sacrifice fly to left.
Carmen Giampetruzzi got two outs after relieving Geannelis in the eighth, and Travis Landry got the final four to pick up the save.
Skip Flanagan had two of the Raging Tide’s four hits.
