HOLYOKE, Mass. — Sanford starting pitcher Christian Lovoie allowed no runs in five innings innings and four relievers backed him up with an inning of shutout baseball each as the Mainers took a 7-0 victory over the Valley Blue Sox in a NECBL game on Friday night at MacKenzie Stadium.
Lavoie, who improved to 3-1 and lowered his ERA to an 1.00 on the season, allowed six hits and no walks while striking out two. Ryan Johnson, Tyler Barss, Jonathan Chudy and Cody Dube then combined to allow five baserunners but no runs over the final four innings.
On the offensive side, Matt Harris led the charge for Sanford (17-10) with a 2-for-4, three RBI night, while Cory Raley went 2-for-5 and scored twice.
The Mainers got on the board twice thanks to a Valley (9-21) error,a nd then scored two more in the third off Blue Sox starter Zach Strecker thanks to RBI’s from Raley and Harris. Sanford then added three insurance runs in the ninth thanks to another Valley error and a two-out, two RBI double off the bat of Harris.
