SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Senior captain Jocelyn Davee tallied the game-winner in overtime to lift the University of New England to a thrilling 14-13 win over Western England University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s lacrosse action Sunday afternoon (Apr. 2) at Golden Bear Stadium.

Korinne Bohunsky’s last-minute goal in regulation forced overtime for the Nor’easters, who evened their record a 5-5 and improved to 2-1 in conference play. Western New England dropped back to 3-7 overall, 0-2 in CCC play.

Davee, Bohunsky and Nichole Carvalho scored three goals apiece for UNE. Anna Stowell and Carly Sheehan each added a pair.

Rachel Canning notched five goals for the Golden Bears to lead all players. Julia Winer and Shannen Barrett had three goals apiece.

Leading 9-7 at intermission, Winer scored back-to-back markers to open the second half and tie the match for Western New England. The teams would go back-and-forth from that point, with neither team holding a positive margin of more than one.

Canning would convert a free-position opportunity with just over five minutes remaining to give the hosts a 13-12 advantage, but Bohunsky scored with 38 seconds left to force extra time. Davee’s game-winner came off a pass from Carvalho.

UNE held significant advantages in both shots (40-24) and ground balls (36-29) to help in the win. Bohunsky finished with a game-high eight draw controls.
