LEOMINSTER, Mass. — Fans at Doyle Field were treated to a high-scoring affair Sunday as the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (5-10) outscored the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (6-10) 16-9 in an FCBL baseball game.
The teams combined for 34 hits in the game.
Eleven runs in the first three innings helped the Raging Tide blow out the Dirt Dawgs. An RBI single by Paul McDonough in the first inning and a solo home run by Mekae Hyde, a fielder’s choice, and a two-run single by McDonough during the second inning fueled the Raging Tide’s offense early.
Hyde had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits.
Dylan Morrow pitched lights out for the Tide in relief. Morrow held the Dirt Dawgs hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Raz Bracha improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Raging Tide. He allowed two runs over one inning in relief of starter Zach Kirby, who lasted just four innings. Bracha struck out none, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Dan Ditusa ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decisionfor Wachusett, as he charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed 11 runs in 2.2 innings, walked one and struck out one.
The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide easily handled the Wachusett pitching as seven hitters combined for 18 hits, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
