OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Three photographs on display at town hall have been reported missing.
Assistant Town Manager V. Louise Reid notified the public last week, in an email news feed, that three pictures were “taken without permission and without payment to the artist.
“If you are aware of the location of these pictures or if they were taken with the intention to pay the artist, please contact me immediately,” said Reid.
The artist, Wendy Barrett, said in an email that photography is a passion of hers, and losing three pieces that were of value to her has been difficult.
“That being said, life does go on, and I have replaced the missing art with some others so that my show can continue,” she said. “I find great irony in the fact that two of the stolen photographs were of a Buddha statue. I hope whoever did this reflects on their behavior and comes forward to either return the stolen items or to pay for them as they should have.”
Reid can be contacted at 284-3652.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
