SACO — Constance D. Tremblay, 81, of Saco and formerly of Biddeford and Acton, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford from complications of diabetes, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 20, 1933 in Biddeford, a daughter of Ludger and Lydia (Beaupre) Binette.
She was educated at St. Joseph School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School.
On Sept. 12, 1959, she married Marcel J. Tremblay at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.
Constance had worked locally at Biddeford & Saco Water Co., Fishman’s Department Store and Pepperell Trust Co. She also worked at First National Bank in Portland. She and her husband owned and operated their family business.
She enjoyed going for rides in the mountains and camping, especially at their camp at Loon Pond. An accomplished seamstress, she made many articles of clothing for her children. She enjoyed the company of her family, dogs and cat.
Constance was preceded in death by: her daughter, Judith Tremblay, on Jan. 12, 2001; her husband of 52 years, Marcel, on Sept. 11, 2011; two brothers, Rene and Fernand Binette; and a sister, Lucienne Gobeil.
She is survived by: three daughters, Diane Tremblay and her partner Margaret Dineen of Biddeford, Debra Hamel and her husband Gary of Saco and Lisa Hobart and her husband Aaron of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one son, Gary Tremblay and his wife Sara of Acton; three sisters, Lauria Gobeil, Therese Paquette and Doris Cote, all of Biddeford; 10 grandchildren, Sophie, Cassandra, Nicole, Colby and Ryan Tremblay, Meaghan and Allison Hamel, and Tyler, Jacob and Nicholas Hobart; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
