BIDDEFORD — Emile A. “Ben” Lehouillier, 89, of Biddeford, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Monarch Center in Saco.

He was born in Biddeford on Feb. 22, 1925, to Edmond and Roseanna (Gagne) Lehouillier.

Emile had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He then married Laurette Boilard in Biddeford on Sept. 20, 1947. She preceded him in death.

Emile worked for Diamond Match Company in Biddeford for more than 12 years; he then went on to work for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, before retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed spending time at his camp on Watchic Lake in Standish, and going out kayaking and sailing. He also enjoyed producing maple syrup and splitting fire wood.

Emile is survived by: three sons, Gerard Lehouillier and his wife Nancy of Unity, Robert A. Lehouillier and his wife Bernadette of Biddeford and Guy L. Lehouillier and his wife Alison of Hiram; two sisters, Jeanne Larose of Biddeford and Rachel Roy of Sanford; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel. An 11 a.m. funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
