SOUTH BERWICK — The Thornton Academy Youth Wrestling team took 15 grapplers to the Noble Diehard Memorial Tournament this past weekend, and four Trojans took home hardware in the contest.

Talan Berube took home first place in the pre-K division thanks to three pins. R.J. Souliere then finished second in the kindergarten division, while Caden True placed third in the fifth-sixth grade group. 

Ryan Cote also had a solid outing, taking home fourth in the third-fourth grade class.

The Trojans will move on to host the King of the Mat Tournament next weekend.The tournament will host over 500 wrestlers, coming all the way from states such as New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Trojan Youth Wrestling is Saco’s first-ever youth wrestling program.

The program is led by coaches Allen Berube, Marty Adams, Ryan Toussaint, Josh Beyea, Roger Souliere, Andrew Tripp as well as volunteer Patty Ann Daigle.
