WELLS — Just in time for their spring arrival, Maine Audubon’s staff naturalist Doug Hitchcox will hold a two-hour workshop to teach participants various techniques for identifying warblers on Saturday, May 3 from 2-4 p.m. He will talk about the diversity of the family, keys for identifying each species, and even spend time sharing the songs and auditory cues to take one’s birding to the next level.
An enthusiastic birder, Hitchcox set the Big Year record for Maine birds with 314 species in 2011. In his spare time, he also runs the Maine birds listserv, serves as secretary of the Maine Bird Records Committee and is one of Maine’s eBird reviewers.
The workshop will be held at the Mather Auditorium of the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm, 342 Laudholm Farm Road in Wells.
A $10 registration fee is payable by cash or check at the workshop, but space is limited and advance registration is required via the website, www.yorkcountyaudubon.org.
