OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach Surge is set to return for its third Summer at OOB, and hopes to win plenty of games while entertaining fans at The Ballpark.

“We’re very excited to back at OOB for another Summer,” said Surge general manager Kira Clark. “This will be our second season as part of the Empire League, our third as a franchise, and we look forward to grow our core fanbase and becoming more involved in the community.”

The Surge will also welcome a new manager at the helm, and hope that his experience will guide OOB to an Empire League Championship.

“Pascual Santiago has a lot of baseball experience and knowledge to bring to the team, working in both the American Association and Frontier League. Because of his background fans can expect a competitive team.”

OOB will kick of its season on June 23. Due to the later start this season, the Surge will have an opportunity to host players that missed out on the MLB Draft, which will also give fans plenty of talent to look forward to this Summer.

“Our season starts on June 23, as opposed to previous seasons where we’ve started the first week of June. Because of this, players that aren’t drafted during the MLB Draft will have a a chance to come to our training camp so there should be a lot of young, talented players in OOB this Summer,” said Clark.

The Surge will kick of its season on June 23 at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach when they take on the Puerto Rico Islanders.
