NEW YORK — The National Basketball Association announced on Monday that Maine Red Claws forward Chris Wright has been selected to participate in this year’s NBA D-League All-Star Game, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 in New Orleans.
The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward from Dayton, now in his third season with the Red Claws, is averaging a team-best 20.2 points (7th in the NBA D-League) to go along with 6.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. This is Wright’s second selection to the All-Star Game in as many seasons, and makes him the first Red Claws player in franchise history to be selected to multiple All-Star Games.
“We are thrilled that Chris Wright’s excellent play is being recognized by his selection to the NBA D-League All Star Game. Chris is not only a great player; he is a fantastic person and a great teammate. We are proud to have him as a member of the Maine Red Claws,” said Bill Ryan, President and Chairmen of the Red Claws.
The Red Claws selected Wright with the third overall pick in the 2011 NBA D-League Draft. During his rookie season, the Dayton product earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Golden State Warriors for the remainder of the season. He holds career averages of 18.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
