On behalf of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Sanford, thank you very much to everyone who took part in and supported our fifth annual Trivia Night at the Town Club on Friday, Jan. 17.
What a terrific evening. Special thanks to Marcel Blouin for emceeing the event; Gina and her team at Above and Beyond Catering for great appetizers and hospitality; all of the sponsors and donors to the raffle and live auction; and everyone who played on the teams.
This year, we had the largest turnout yet, with 20 teams, and it was a spirited competition. People have told me they had lots of fun and learned new things ”“ and that’s a great combination.
Congratulations to the winning team, led by Frank Mahoney and including Jean and Dennis Brennan, Suzanne Gagnon, Cori Arsenault, Marilyn Stanley and Christine Aronson. Please mark your calendars and join us for next year’s Trivia Night on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015.
Literacy Volunteers offers free, confidential tutoring to adults so they can improve their literacy skills and change their lives. We are tremendously grateful for strong community support of our mission.
-Ingrid Baily, executive director, Literacy Volunteers of Greater Sanford

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
