A fundraiser dinner will be held for the Old Orchard Beach Community Food Pantry on Feb. 6 at Yellowfin’s Restaurant, 5 Temple Ave., Ocean Park. The four-course meal costs $25 and a portion goes to the food pantry. Reservations are recommended. Call 934-1100.
Dr. Erin Bishop will return to the Wells Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. with “Profound Wonder: The Marriage of Abraham and Mary Lincoln.” For many, Lincoln’s marriage to Mary Todd, of Lexington, Ky., continues to be a source of profound wonder since it occurred on Nov. 4, 1842. In this 90-minute session, explore the passionate and even stormy relationship between the 16th president and his often-maligned wife. This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library and Wells-Ogunquit Adult Community Education. Pre-registration not required.
Friday, Feb. 7
Chillax, a program in which junior high students are invited to come and “chillax” after school at the Wells Public Library will be offered Friday, Feb. 7. Saturday, Feb. 8
Biddeford Cub Scout Pack 308 of St. Joseph Knights of Columbus Council No. 12941 will be conducting a bottle drive Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Troop members will be going door to door collecting bottles. The Saco River Valley Kiwanis Club is holding a family Valentine’s dance on Feb. 8 from 6-10 p.m. There will be a DJ and karaoke. The cost is $10 per person or $25 for a family. There will be a bake sale and food items available, and a raffle.
Cub Scout Pack 350 is hosting a pancake breakfast at the Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church on Feb. 8 from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.
Sanford Backpack Program’s Chocolate Benefit, “A Decadent Chocolate Tasting,” is set for 7-9 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Town Club, 4 Washington St. Cost is $15 and will allow those partaking to indulge in an evening of decadent chocolate. Proceeds will allow the Sanford Backpack Program to fill more backpacks with food for children and prevent hunger. Tickets may be purchased by calling 206-2294 or via email at [email protected].
The Dayton Recreation Department is hosting a fundraiser at the Dayton Town Hall Community Room on Feb. 6 from 5-8 p.m. There will be vendors selling jewelry, candles and purses. Proceeds benefit the town playground.
The First Parish Congregational Church, at the corner of Beach and Main Streets in Saco, will serve a bean supper on Feb. 8 from 5-6:30 p.m. The menu includes pea beans, kidney beans, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, brown bread, dinner rolls, coleslaw, apple crisp, brownies, coffee, tea and cold beverages. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12.
The Wells-Ogunquit Music Boosters will host a turkey dinner Saturday, Feb. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Eldridge Road in Wells. Prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students.
St. Andre Health Care facility will host its annual Chocolate Fair on Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items available will include: chocolates, candy, baked goods, crafts, jewelry and gift basket raffles. Proceeds from the event benefit the annual summer vacation to Camp Waban for facility residents. The snow date is Sunday, Feb. 9. The Lyman Republican Committee will be holding its monthly meeting on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Community Library in Goodwins Mills. Those in attendance will make the final draft on the revised paper and discuss the caucus. All Lyman Republicans and undeclared voters are invited to meetings.
The York County Republicans County Convention is set for Saturday, Feb. 8 at Sanford High School, 678 Main St. in Sanford, beginning at 9 a.m. The following municipal caucuses will be held: Acton, Arundel, Berwick, Buxton, Dayton, Eliot, Hollis, Kennebunk, Kittery, Lebanon, Limerick, Newfield, North Berwick, Sanford, Shapleigh, South Berwick, Waterboro and Wells. The purpose of the caucus is to elect delegates and alternates to the Republican State Convention and the York County Republican Committee. Town clerks and registrars will be available 8:30- 9 a.m. for voter registration. All Republicans are encouraged to attend the convention. The Biddeford Green Independent Party Committee will caucus at Biddeford City Hall, in Council Chambers, Saturday, Feb. 8 from 1-2 p.m. The agenda includes electing the chairperson and secretary and discussing the Biddeford Green Independent Party goals. Members of Green Independent Party are welcome and new members can sign up at the meeting.
Tuesday, Feb. 11
The Buxton Recreation Department is offering a potluck lunch on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. at Buxton Town Hall. Participants should bring a dish to share.
