WELLS—Colder winter weather will leave many looking for indoor activities in January and with that in mind, the Wells Public Library has a full slate of entertaining and informative events coming up for area residents.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the activities and prograns at the library in January for children and teens:
Toddler Storytime
Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 10:30 a.m.
For ages 2- to 5 and their caregivers and meets Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings for stories, songs, and movement, all followed by a craft. Random Fandom
Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m.
Random Fandom celebrates a new popular theme each month and is geared toward kids in grades 5 to 8. This January, Random Fandom will explore Classic Disney. Participants will make crafts, talk about their favorite aspects of the chosen theme, eat snacks, and play games. Lego and Rubik’s Cube Club
Friday, Jan. 6 at 3 p.m.
Let the brain games begin. Participants are invited to build master creations with Legos provided by the library. The library will also have Rubik’s cubes on hand with instructions on how to solve the cube’s mystery. Mother Goose Storytime
Monday, Jan. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
The Mother Goose Mondays is for children ages 0 to 24 months and their caregivers with lap activities, rhymes, songs, and fingerplays. Entirely free. For more information, contact Allison Herman at [email protected] or by calling the library at 646-8181.
Teen Movie Matinee
Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 1:15 p.m.
Need something to do on an early release day? Stop by the library on the last Wednesday of each month to watch a movie. Have fun hanging out with friends, eating popcorn, and enjoying the show. Teen Crafternoon: Sock Snowmen
Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m.
Stop by the library one Wednesday each month to try out a new craft. This January, the library will be making clever little snowmen from new socks. We provide the supplies, you bring the creativity. Ethel M. Weymouth Art Gallery
Saturday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m.
Please join us for a free opening reception at the Ethel M. Weymouth Art Gallery inside the Wells Public Library. Refreshments will be provided, and the artists will speak briefly on their work and answer questions. This month we will showcase local artists in a variety of mediums including oil on canvas, watercolor, fabric, stamp collage, and more. The art will remain on display for the months of January and February; we hope to see you there! This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library. Meditation Group
Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 12 p.m.
If meditation is something you are curious or passionate about, this program is for you. Learn how to consistently incorporate mediation into your life in order to increase health, wellbeing and inner peace. Wellness Coach Cindy Simon will lead us in a weekly meditation session. Needle Felting Penguins with Danielle Bonney
Thursday, Jan. 19 at 2:30 p.m.
Back by popular demand, needle felting is a process using barbed needles to interlock wool fibers to form a more condensed material. Local needle felter Danielle Bonney will teach us how to make cute penguins using this technique just in time for an early Valentine’s Day gift. Materials are provided. Open to ages 8 and up.
